Celebrate Jimmy Burney’s birthday during halftime of Marble Falls boys basketball game Feb. 10
Marble Falls Mustang super fan Jimmy Burney is turning 75 and the athletic program and his friends couldn’t let the occasion pass without a celebration.
Therefore, at halftime of the Marble Falls High School boys basketball game against Burnet Friday, Feb. 10, Burney will be recognized. The game is at Max Copeland Gym.
“Jimmy is such a huge part of our community,” Mustangs head coach Travis Crain said. “We’re excited to be able to honor him at halftime. He’s been such a staple of both basketball programs and we are so thankful for all of his support through the years.”
Burney is often standing close to the student section of each home game. And he keeps up with the Mustangs and Lady Mustangs, no matter the sport, throughout the school year, even when they’re on the road.
“He’s a local celebrity, and everybody knows who he is,” Marble Falls Independent School District Board of Trustees President Kevin Naumann said. “He’s one of the greatest Mustang fans of all time. And we want to be able to celebrate him. It’s a time to celebrate Jimmy, and what he means to us.”
